Leo's Ristorante, a favorite amoung locals and visitors alike, provides prompt service of delicious, freshly prepared italian cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere.
Leo’s opened its doors in 1948 at 211 State Street in Bristol Rhode Island. Its original name was Leo’s Pizzeria.
Leo Mancieri, a 50 year old no nonsense man who had been a saloon manager for many local establishments, decide he wanted to work for himself. If you ask many of the older locals they would describe this intelligent hard working Saloon owner as civic minded and a community leader. He was also known for his beautiful handwriting.
Leo’s quickly became known as the best pizzeria in Rhode Island, not just because of the food. You could always count on Leo’s being clean and welcoming. Leo’s wife Virginia (Gina) was always there to welcome all who came to eat. As the family grew, it wasn’t unusual to have the sons Mario, Reno or Robert cooking, cleaning or serving the patrons.
Leo’s is now in this new location and it has expanded its menu. The restaurant is managed by grandson Paul with the assistance of his famigila. The signs of a generational establishment are reflected in the menu with dishes named for family members.
The future of Leo’s is very exciting. The ArtsBistro will be bringing entertainment in the form of music, theatre and Murder Mystery dinners.
