People's Credit Union was recently awarded the Excellence in Advocacy Award for Rhode Island and the Credit Union of the Year by the Cooperative Credit Union Association.
The Excellence in Advocacy Award for Rhode Island award was in recognition of People's Credit Union's commitment to promoting awareness of credit unions. In addition to the Excellence in Advocacy Award, People's Credit Union received the Credit Union of the Year Award; this award was in recognition of their overall commitment to advocacy and social responsibility. "These awards are a result of the hard work and commitment of all employees and the Board of Directors. It was our honor to accept these awards on behalf of all employees, Board and our members," commented Ellen Ford, President and CEO. The Cooperative Credit Union Association is a credit union trade group with a heritage distinguishing it as the oldest continually operating trade group in the United States. While proud of this heritage, the Association serves its member credit unions throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Delaware and Rhode Island as their legislative and regulatory advocate, as a liaison to vendors and business partners, and as a resource for training and education, and industry news. The League of Women Voters of RI; East Bay Chamber of Commerce; East Bay Newspapers; and Full Channel present the Bristol Candidate Forums.
The Bristol Candidate Forum will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the Old Bristol State House, 240 High St. The debates will be viewable on Full Channel 16 live; and until Nov. 8 at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily. Participating candidates include: Town Council Nathan Calouro, D; Marco Capaldi, R; Ann Gardner, I; Aaron Ley, D; Patrick McCarthy, R; Mary Parella, R; Edward Stuart, Jr., D; Timothy Sweeney, D; Andrew Tyska, D. Town Administrator Steven Contente, I; and Antonio Texeira, I. Kindly note that all candidates may greet audience members and distribute campaign materials in the lobby starting at 6:30 PM. The East Bay Chamber of Commerce will provide refreshments. There will be no campaign materials allowed in the Town Council Chamber. The forum questions will be submitted by the audience, by the candidates themselves, and by the co-sponsors. The questions will be written on small index cards and placed in boxes. There are two boxes: one for state office questions and one for Town Council questions. These questions will be screened by the LWVRI to assure that all are concisely stated, non-redundant, and issue-oriented. The Moderator will choose the questions to ask. From the friendly receptionists, Lauren and Lorraine, to the other members of the team, it is an environment that focuses on your well-being. OPT was founded in 2000 by two owners and has grown significantly since then. In 2002, the Tiverton office was opened and Amy Simmons was a student conducting her first clinical. Since then several offices have been opened in Rhode Island and one had been started in Westport, MA but has since merged with a RI one. As Clinical Director for the Warren and Bristol offices and Director - Development for the whole company, Amy manages a team of 15 dedicated people who work collaboratively so each patient feels that the whole team is ensuring the best care possible. They not only offer physical therapy but also strength and conditioning services and a six-week summer camp for athletes. In addition, they have athletic trainers that they are under contract to work at certain high schools with the student athletes. Come in and meet with one of their staff. They will conduct an initial evaluation in a private room to evaluate your issues and hear your concerns. They will develop a plan and then work with you in an airy and welcoming room on various stretches and other means to get you back to feeling your best.
