The Emerging Leaders Program provides participants with the new knowledge, know-how and connections to help the grow their businesses, create jobs, and strengthen communities. Over 2,500 small business owners around the country have completed the program.
The program is free of charge and will run from March, 2017 to September, 2017. This innovative program is an intense seven month program that offers approximately 100 hours of training per participant and provides the opportunity for small business owners to work with experienced professionals and develop connections with their peers, city leaders, and financial communities. The emerging Leaders executive-level training series uses a copyrighted curriculum called the StreetWise Steps™ to Small Business Growth. The curriculum gives small business owners, an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience through a combination of 1) executive education; 2) practical tips based on "real-life" business experience, and; 3) advice from business leaders that can be readily applied. Entrepreneurs will be in class for 40 hours of instruction time, taught by Interise, divided over 13 class sessions. Participants will also spend roughly 14 hours in CEO Mentoring Groups. The Curriculum cover has five modules that will be covered in class. Module 1: Business and Strategy Assessment. Module 2: Financials. Module 3: Marketing and Sales. Module 4: Resources- People, Accessing Capital and Government Contracting. Module 5: Putting it all together- Strategic Growth Plan Presentations. The average time out-of-class time commitment is three hours for each class, though some sessions demand up to six hours of preparation time. All the instructional approaches - classes, CEO Mentoring Groups and self -paced learning are interconnected and of equal importance. Classes meet roughly every other week during the evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. so as to not take the owner away from their daily business commitments.
